> i want to stitch and recycle my life back together....

these amazing textile art walls are created by Rachel Salley.
i like what she wrote in her artist statement:
" imperfect, impermanent & incomplete I’m finding to be perfect in every way."
that is very much how i feel about creating things!
her work are beautifully designed piece by piece with varieties of textile! rich, alive and playful!
true inspiration for me! i love the idea that she uses all sorts of fabrics;
recycled.......cashmere....felt.....knitting.....crochet.....
her color pallet is wonderful too! i feel so warm and hugged by these pieces that im going to tear
apart all my sweaters so i can stitch them back together for such "perfect" creations!
so.....stay tuned for later updates on my crazy thoughts and feelings i have at this moment!

> stay hungry....... stay foolish!

this is exact words steve jobs said at the end of his speech at stanford in 2005.

and......this was the text in one of  his add:
"Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers.
The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules.
And they have no respect for the status quo.You can quote them,
disagree with them, glorify or vilify them.
About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they
change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore.
They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward.
Maybe they have to be crazy.
How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art?
Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written?
Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels?
We make tools for these kinds of people.
While some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.
Because the people who are crazy enough to think they
can change the world, are the ones who do."

thank you steve jobs! i wish our world had more human beings like you;
foolish enough to do such extraordinary thing.
hungry enough that they dont care what they might loose.
you were the perfect crazy genius one in the world sir!

i just watched the video of his speech in 2005. powerful! just what i needed!
here is the video: stay hungry....stay foolish.

> the bike shelf story......

the bike shelf is a beautiful piece of furniture (as much as practical) by Chris Brigham.
his story of how he worked as a graphic designer for many years for high end companies
but wished he could make things more with his hands is kinda similar to mine in some ways!
then in some points of his life he turned his garage into a wood shop and started building
furniture: Knife & Saw.  [he is a local designer in san francisco]

he says on his website:
" Not having a formal education in furniture design, I find myself learning a lot along
the way, but almost always figuring it out in the end. I have a knack for reverse
engineering and willingness to fail miserably, both of which I think help a lot......"

there is a great lesson to be learned here:
there is no reward if we fear the failure. we always survive even
when dont know the path as long as we fallow the journey of our heart!

first his design got me interested......but then his story about how he came
to become a furniture designer stole my attention. So.... behind every great
design....there is a great person who has a surprising story to share with us!

> its not the same monday..........

today monday october seventeen is one of those days in my life i can never forget!
it feels like just a new me came to life!

last night after i got home i started applying my ideas i'd had into making some
textile wearable necklaces for the first time in my life.
also....... i started a new series of cards with combination of fiber and drawing!
the new ideas were pouring out of me like there is no tomorrow. i was drawing,
twisting..... knotting...... gluing like never seen before! i was non-stoppable.
came up with two necklaces and many cards!

also..........today finally i mailed some papers and documents needed to be sent by me.
these requested important papers had been hunting me for the last three weeks. i was very
heavy about the situation! so by sending the papers on their way i suddenly felt light came
through my day!

then....... right after...... i had a conversation with my spanish sister in spain when she told me
she had a strange dream about me in her mornig time which was exactly my last night time here.
that i had a huge house in Russian hill in SF made of glass so that everybody could see my life.
a house full of beautiful plants and flowers. then she saw me laying on the floor with
a baby in my belly. she could see though my skin that baby was perfect and ready to come!

such a wired but powerful dream!.....she is a very soulful being and i knew exactly what her
dream meant! to me, her dream was announcing exactly my state of being last night when the
real artist in me was coming out of her cocoon and making things! i barley slept through night!
it was crazy and i could not even recognize myself then!
(will post the pieces i made last night later as soon as i can photogragh them)

after our conversation i felt this is it. i could not take anything for granted anymore.
i am ripe and ready to make things. its my production time. cant neglect any more minutes!

i was soooooo inspired and motivated that i went and got tons more material
for my yet-to-come wearable fiber accessories....and else!

then.......when i got home i opened this new post from cannelle et vanille.
{i cant get enough of her food + photogarphy blog}
the beautiful fall foliage photos are from her amazing post:
Food Styling & Photography in La Dordogne
(the walnut shelves and autumn have been my all time favorite combination!)

today....... i feel blissfully content ........and against all odds....... today is monday!

> im playfully serious.....

bird's impact in the world of fashion industry is undeniable!
does everybody know that!? im wondering.....
when i read the article by
Trend Tablet i knew some bird
theme trends that had been influencing styles recently.
but then........ the editorial designer in me could not help

but to give myself an assignment to come up with some
matched images that explore how birds can be inspirational
in fashion or such industries.

and......... owe my gosh
i could not believe my own eyes what i was discovering along
my intensive one day project. perhaps my assignment took me
way too far (as you see above i got carried away with many match
made in heaven images!) but i could not stop myself from searching
for more bird photos and then matching a fashion influenced moment
by that bird to create each set above.

now im totally convinced that anyone in fashion industry
from designers to stylists, photographers, color setters,
set designers....or else study birds, their environment, behaviors,
surroundings, how they fly, how they stand and much more
when they get into such a business.

here is a summery of my observation:

1) fashion industry could not survive without birds.
2) almost all trends, styles, color theme, fashion behaviors come

    from birds
3) birds are very influential creatures
4) all people in such industry consult birds before they set a new

     trend, color theme, or else
5) birds understanding of color theory is beyond any human imagination
6) birds are living art creations
7) if birds can have such power in fashion god knows what

impact other creatures (butterflies ...sea animal...etc) have had!
8) go find a bird for any creative idea when you are brainstorming
9) consult a bird if you want to make a fashion statement with your outfit
10) study birds to learn about color harmony

11) watch some fascinating short videos posted in [Birds/Super Stars]
       section by Trend Tablet

kidding aside.........i took this assignment very seriously!

p.s.......none of the images are mine but i simply borrowed each from
different online sources for just the purpose of playing with them and
matching them with one another. thank you to all you online people
who posted a photo that inspired me for doing such a fun totally
self-instructed project. each matched photo is inspired by some
details i found in texture, form, shape, color, or feeling it conveys.

and......this was again a reminder for me that all human's inspirations
come form nature and nothing else!

recommendation....... if you need a quick pick me up thing watch
this or this or this or more from short videos mentioed in (11 above)
they make you forget about your worries and realize that universe is
a fascinating place to be part of!
